Moritz Malcharek (born July 29, 1997 in Berlin ) is a German cyclist who competes in races on the road and track .

Athletic career

Moritz Malcharek came to cycling through a friend at the age of ten and initially trained at SC Berlin until he switched to RSV Werner Otto in 2009. In 2017 he was signed by the LKT Team Brandenburg .

In 2014, Malcharek won the team time trial of the renowned junior race Sint-Martinusprijs Kontich in Belgium together with Leo Appelt , Jasper Frahm , Marcel Franz , Marc Jurczyk and Robert Jägeler . The following year he and Moritz Augenstein became German junior champions in two-man team driving . In 2016 he decided one stage of the International Tour of the Oder for himself. In 2017 he won the U23 event of the Bremen six-day race together with Augenstein , in Berlin the duo took third place; in the same year he graduated from high school. In 2018 he won the Berlin U23 competition together with Christian Koch .

At the U23 European Championships in 2018 , Malcharek won the silver medal in the Omnium . In October of that year, he started the first run of the Track World Cup in Saint-Quentin-en-Yvelines, France, as a member of the elite national team and won the gold medal in the points race straight away on his World Cup debut .
