NGC 6609 is an irregular galaxy of Hubble type Irr in the constellation Draco the northern sky . It is estimated to be 373 million light years from the Milky Way and about 75,000 light years across.

In the same area of ​​the sky are u. a. the galaxies NGC 6601 , NGC 6607 , NGC 6608 , IC 4708 .

The object was discovered by Lewis Swift on August 4, 1883 .
