NGC 6609 is an irregular galaxy of Hubble type Irr in the constellation Draco the northern sky . It is estimated to be 373 million light years from the Milky Way and about 75,000 light years across.
In the same area of the sky are u. a. the galaxies NGC 6601 , NGC 6607 , NGC 6608 , IC 4708 .
The object was discovered by Lewis Swift on August 4, 1883 .
