NGC 6595 is an emission nebula with an embedded open star cluster in the constellation Sagittarius . The object was first discovered by John Herschel on July 14, 1830 . The nebula was also discovered by the astronomer Lewis Swift in 1885 with a 16-inch telescope and added to the NGC catalog as NGC 6590. In addition, the object was once again included in the index catalog by Edward Barnard as the IC 4700 in 1905 . Only later was it recognized that all 3 discoveries were about the same object.
NGC 6595 has an apparent magnitude of 7.0 mag and an angular diameter of 11 '.
