IC 4712 is a spiral galaxy of the Hubble type Sbc in the constellation Peacock in the southern sky . It is an estimated 166 million light-years away from the Milky Way and about 120,000 light-years across.
In the same area of the sky are u. a. the galaxies IC 4704 and IC 4705 .
The object was discovered by DeLisle Stewart on August 20, 1900 .
