IC 4696 is a spiral galaxy of Hubble type Sbc in the constellation Peacock on southern sky . It is an estimated 204 million light years away from the Milky Way and about 150,000 light years in diameter. Presumably it forms a gravitationally bound galaxy pair together with PGC 320050 . It is considered a member of the 31 galaxies counting IC 4765 group ( LGG 422 ).

The object was discovered by DeLisle Stewart on July 19, 1901 .
