IC 4689 is a spiral galaxy of Hubble type Sa in the constellation Peacock on southern sky . It is around 218 million light years away from the Milky Way and has a diameter of around 70,000 light years .
IC 4689 forms together with IC 4686 and IC 4687 an interactive galaxy trio.
The galaxy IC 4689 was discovered on August 1, 1904 by the American astronomer Royal Harwood Frost .
