IC 4726 is a lenticular galaxy of the Hubble type S0 in the constellation Peacock in the southern sky . It is estimated to be 198 million light years from the Milky Way and about 55,000 light years in diameter. Together with thirty other galaxies it forms the IC 4765 group ( LGG 422 ) and with PGC 62116 an optical (?) Pair of galaxies.
In the same area of the sky are u. a. the galaxies IC 4723 , IC 4727 , IC 4731 , IC 4735 .
The object was discovered by DeLisle Stewart on July 20, 1901 .
