IC 4731 is a lenticular galaxy of the Hubble type SB0 / a in the constellation Peacock in the southern sky . It is estimated to be 198 million light years from the Milky Way and about 90,000 light years in diameter.
In the same area of the sky are u. a. the galaxies IC 4726 , IC 4730 , IC 4735 , IC 4737 .
The object was discovered by DeLisle Stewart on July 20, 1901 .
