IC 4749 is a lenticular galaxy of the Hubble type S0 in the constellation Peacock in the southern sky . It is estimated 189 million light years away from the Milky Way and has a diameter of about 40,000 ly.

The object was discovered by DeLisle Stewart on July 20, 1901 .
