NGC 6587 is a 12.6 mag bright elliptical galaxy of the Hubble type "E / SB0" in the constellation Hercules in the northern sky . It is estimated to be 146 million light years from the Milky Way and about 55,000 light years in diameter.
The object was discovered by Albert Marth on July 31, 1864 .
