NGC 6573 is one of several stars of existing asterism in the constellation Sagittarius . During an observation on July 28, 1830, John Herschel noted “a cluster composed of 2 or 3 clusters of very small stars, and loose large ones. Perhaps an outlier of VIII. 31 [NGC 6583] “He mistakenly believed this observation to be an open star cluster that had such an entry in the catalog.
