NGC 6591 is a 15.5 mag bright spiral galaxy of the Hubble type S? in the constellation Hercules in the northern sky . In the same area of the sky are u. a. the galaxies NGC 6577 , NGC 6579 , NGC 6580 , NGC 6586 .
The object was discovered by Albert Marth on July 27, 1864 .
Due to the observation errors known from Marth, some modern catalogs refer under this number to another object at the position right ascension: 18: 13: 57.4; Declination: +21: 02: 04.
