Messier 28 (also known as NGC 6626) is a +7.66 mag bright globular cluster with an area of 11.2 'in the constellation Sagittarius . It is about 18,000 light years away from the solar system and has a diameter of about 60 light years.
The object was discovered on July 27, 1764 by the French astronomer Charles Messier .
