In the 1994/95 UEFA Cup , Bisgaard reached the round of 16 with his club after successes over FC Flora Tallinn , Linfield FC and 1. FC Kaiserslautern , where they met Spanish representatives Real Madrid . After a 3-2 home defeat, Odense won the second leg in Madrid 2-0 and made it to the quarter-finals. In the 1996/97 season Bisgaard scored 16 goals in 33 games and played his best season so far. At this time he was also appointed to the Danish national football team for the first time . In 1998 Morten Bisgaard moved to the Italian Serie A for Udinese Calcio .
Udinese Calcio
The first season in Italy was unsatisfactory, Bisgaard was only used in three games. In the following year he played 20 league games and scored a goal in Serie A in 1999/2000 and was then appointed to the Danish national team for the 2000 European Football Championship in the Netherlands and Belgium. There he played two games, but each ended in defeat for his team. After another season in Italy, he moved back to Denmark in 2001 and played for FC Copenhagen .
FC Copenhagen
His time at the Danish capital club was to be the most successful of his career. In the seasons 2002/03 and 2003/04 he was each Danish football champion with his club. He also won the Danish Cup in 2004. Bisgaard played 74 league games for FC Copenhagen in three years and scored ten goals. After the successful 2003/04 season with two titles, he moved to England to Derby County .
Derby County
Derby had played in the Premier League until 2002 and has since failed to return to the top English division. Together with his teammates Lee Camp , Tom Huddlestone and Grzegorz Rasiak , however, Bisgaard was initially unable to achieve this goal. In the first season 2004/05 the team missed promotion with fourth place and a subsequent out in the play-offs. After a disappointing 2005/06 with 20th place, Derby County reached the first play-off round in 2006/07 under the new coach Billy Davies by placing third. There, the team switched off Southampton FC to win 1-0 against West Bromwich Albion in the subsequent final at Wembley and advance to the 2007/08 Premier League . After the season, the 33-year-old Bisgaard moved back to Denmark to end his career there after two more years with Odense BK .
