Moutoullas

Moutoullas ( Greek Μουτουλλάς) is a mountain village in Cyprus , which is located at an altitude of about 900 m in the upper Marathasa Valley of the Troodos Mountains .

MOUTOULLAS is best known as the location of the Panagia tou Moutoulla , one of the world heritage of UNESCO belonging barn roof churches . This is located on a ledge near the village cemetery and was built around the year 1280. The art-historically significant frescoes "Birth of Christ" and "Presentation in the Temple" are also said to have been created at this time. The village is also known in Cyprus for its delicious mineral water , which is sold all over the island . Another culturally significant building in the immediate vicinity of the place is the monastery of Agios Ioannis Lampadistis in the neighboring village of Kalopanagiotis two kilometers away , it is also on the world cultural heritage list. A stone bridge over the Setrachos brook leads to this medieval monastery, which consists of three churches and a few houses .

At the 2001 census , Moutoullas had 294 inhabitants.
