Pedoulas ( Greek Πεδουλάς [ pɛðuˈlas ] ( m. Sg. )) Is a mountain village in Cyprus , which is located at an altitude of about 1100 meters in the Marathasa Valley of the Troodos Mountains . The name is said to go back to the words pediada (valley) and laos (people).
Pedoulas is known as the location of the church known Archangel Michael (Church of the Archangel Michael ), one of ten for World Heritage of UNESCO belonging barn roof churches . In addition, the place has eleven other churches and chapels.
There are two museums in Pedoulas : the Byzantine Museum, which opened in 1999 and mainly exhibits icons , and the Folkloric Museum, which opened in 2005.
Pedoulas is a center of tourism in the Troodos Mountains with its hotels and restaurants.
At the 2001 census , the place had 191 inhabitants.
