Muharrem Ince

Muharrem İnce (born May 4, 1964 in Elmalık near Yalova ) is a Turkish politician , author and former teacher . He has been a member of the Grand National Assembly for Yalova since 1999 and was parliamentary group leader of the Republican People's Party (CHP) until September 2014 .

Life

Muharrem İnce was born in Elmalık, Yalova Province, the son of Zekiye and Şerif İnce; his paternal grandparents come from Thessaloniki in Macedonia in Greece , his maternal grandparents from the north-eastern Black Sea city of Rize . He graduated from Balıkesir University with a degree in physics and chemistry . As a chemistry and physics teacher, he taught at numerous high schools and drama schools (Dershane) across the country and was school director. He was also the press spokesman for Yalovaspor and the provincial chairman of the Association for the Promotion of Ataturk's Ideas (ADD) .

In the parliamentary elections in 2002 İnce became a member of the Grand National Assembly for the CHP as a deputy for Yalova. In the 2007 election he was re-elected. In the 2011 election he was re-elected in office by a large majority.

İnce is chairman of the CHP parliamentary group. He is also chairman of the parliamentary committee for national education, culture, youth and sport. In addition, he is a member of the parliamentary assembly of the Turkish-speaking countries ( Türk Dili Konuşan Ülkeler Parliaments Asamblesi ) as a representative of Turkey. He also became president of Ataturkçü Düşünce Derneği .

He is known for his spirited speeches, which are among the most viewed videos of Turkish politics on the Internet. Ince played an important role in the 2014 local elections , from which the CHP in Yalova emerged victorious. The election was repeated; The CHP also won. Ince ran twice as party chairman of the CHP, but was defeated by his party colleague Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu .

At the beginning of May 2018, the CHP nominated him as a candidate for the early presidential election on June 24, 2018 . Four parties of the Turkish opposition (the CHP, the right-wing nationalist IYI party , the Islamist Saadet party and the conservative Democratic Party ) had previously formed the nation's alliance for the parliamentary election, but had not agreed on a common candidate for the presidential election.

İnce is married to the teacher Ülkü İnce and has one son.
