The Municipio Llica is a district in the Potosí department in the highlands of the South American Andean state of Bolivia .

Location in the vicinity

The Municipio Llica is one of two Municipios in the Daniel Campos Province . It borders in the north on the Oruro department , in the west on the Republic of Chile , in the south on the province of Nor Lípez , and in the east on the municipality Tahua , with the border with Tahua running almost 100 percent in the Salar de Uyuni . The municipality extends over about 180 kilometers in north-south and over 110 kilometers in east-west direction.

The central place of the municipality is the village Llica with 845 inhabitants ( 2012 ) in the northern part of the district.

The Municipio Llica is located between the western Andean chain of the Cordillera Occidental and the eastern chain of the Cordillera Oriental on the banks of the Salar de Uyuni salt lake . The climate in the region is semi-arid and a typical time of day climate , in which the temperatures fluctuate more during the day than during the year.
