The Municipio Punata is a district in the Department of Cochabamba in the South American Andean state of Bolivia .
Location in the vicinity
The municipality of Punata is one of five municipalities in the province of Punata . It is bordered to the northwest by the municipality of San Benito , to the southwest by the province of Germán Jordán , to the south by the municipality of Villa Rivero , to the east by the province of Arani and to the northeast by the province of Tiraque .
The central place of the municipality is Punata with 19,559 inhabitants in the northern part of the district. ( 2012 census )
geography
The Municipio Punata is located in the transition area between the Bolivian Altiplano in the west and the Bolivian lowlands in the east.
The mean average temperature of the region is just under 18 ° C (see climate diagram Cochabamba) and fluctuates only slightly between 14 ° C in June and July and 20 ° C in November. The annual precipitation is around 450 mm, with a pronounced dry season from May to September with monthly precipitation below 10 mm, and a humidity period from December to February with 90 to 110 mm monthly precipitation.
