The Municipio San Carlos is a district in the Santa Cruz Department in the South American Andean state of Bolivia .

Location in the vicinity

The municipality of San Carlos is one of four municipalities in the Ichilo Province and comprises the eastern areas of the province. It is bordered to the west by the Municipio San Juan de Yapacaní and the Municipio Yapacaní , to the south and southeast by the Municipio Buena Vista , and to the northeast and north by the Province of Sara .

The municipality extends between about 17 ° 00 'and 17 ° 38' south latitude and 63 ° 36 'and 63 ° 55' west longitude, its extension from west to east is up to 20 kilometers and from north to south up to 60 kilometers .

The municipality comprises 52 municipalities ( localidades ), the central place of the municipality is the city of San Carlos with 4,620 inhabitants ( 2012 census ) in the southern part of the district.

The municipality of San Carlos is located on the western edge of the Bolivian lowlands in front of the Cordillera Oriental , the climate is subtropical and humid all year round .

The mean average temperature of the region is around 24 ° C (see climate diagram Santa Fe de Yapacaní) and varies only marginally between 20 and 21 ° C in June and July and 26 to 27 ° C from November to February. The annual precipitation is about 1800 mm, the summer months from October to March have mean monthly precipitation between 150 and 300 mm.
