The municipality of San Javier is a district in the Beni department in the South American Andean state of Bolivia .

Location in the vicinity

The municipality of San Javier is the northern of the two municipalities of the province of Cercado . It is bordered to the north by the province of Mamoré , to the north-west by the province of Yacuma , to the west by the province of Moxos , to the south by the municipality of Trinidad , to the south-east by the province of Marbán , to the east by the department of Santa Cruz , and to the north-east by the Iténez Province .

The largest localities in the municipality are San Pedro Nuevo with 357 inhabitants in the northwestern part of the municipality and the administrative seat of San Javier with 395 inhabitants ( 2012 ), both on the right bank of the Río Mamoré .

The municipality of San Javier is located in the Bolivian part of the Amazon basin and is characterized by a tropical, hot and humid climate all year round (see Trinidad climate diagram). The annual average temperature is around 26 ° C, with the monthly average temperatures between June / July at 23 ° C and October / December at 28 ° C only slightly different.

The annual precipitation is 2000 mm and is therefore more than twice as high as the precipitation in Central Europe. Maximum values ​​of around 300 mm in the rainy season from December to February contrast with low values ​​of around 50 mm in the short dry season from June to August.
