San Pedro Nuevo (formerly: San Pedro) is a town in the Beni department in Bolivia .

location

San Pedro Neuvo is the second largest town in the district ( Bolivian : Municipio ) San Javier in the province of Cercado . The city is located at an altitude of 151  m on the right bank of the Río Mamoré , which drains to the Río Iténez , and is about seven kilometers from the river.

San Pedro Nuevo is located in the Bolivian lowlands in the Moxos plain , with over 100,000 km² one of the largest wetlands on earth. The predominant form of vegetation in the San Pedro region is the tropical savannah .

The annual precipitation for the region is about 1,400 mm (see climate diagram Magdalena), with a clear dry season in the months of June to September. The monthly average temperatures are between 24 ° C and 28 ° C all year round.

San Pedro Nuevo is 58 kilometers north of Trinidad , the capital of the department.

The 1,631 kilometer long highway Ruta 9 runs through San Pedro Nuevo , which crosses the entire Bolivian lowland and connects Guayaramerin in the north on the Brazilian border with Yacuiba in the south on the Argentine border. It leads as an unpaved road from Guayaramerin via Puerto Siles , San Joaquín and San Ramón to San Pedro and on via San Javier to the departmental capital of Trinidad.
