Luiz Guilherme da Conceição Silva , called Muriqui (born June 16, 1986 in Mangaratiba , Rio de Janeiro ), is a Brazilian soccer player who is currently under contract with the Chinese second division club Meizhou Meixian Techand .

Career

In 2004 Muriqui began his professional career at Madureira EC and stayed there until 2008. Because of his great talent, he was loaned out to various high-class Brazilian clubs ( CR Vasco da Gama , Paysandu SC , Iraty SC and Avaí FC ).

In 2008 he signed with Desportivo Brasil , where he was awarded several times. These included a renewed loan to Avaí FC on April 14, 2009 and Atlético Mineiro on January 13, 2010. At the end of 2009, he announced that he would leave the club at the end of the season.

On June 30, 2010 he signed a four-year contract with the Chinese second division team Guangzhou Evergrande with a record transfer fee of 3.5 million euros. He made his debut against Nanjing Yoyo FC on July 21, where he scored four goals. In the 2010 season he scored a total of 13 goals in 14 games, reached first place with his team in China League One and thus rose to the first-class Chinese Super League .

On April 17, 2011, he scored his first two first division goals in the game against Beijing Guoan , which ended in a 2-2 draw. On May 4, he became the first Chinese Cup player to hit a hat trick against Guizhou Zhicheng . On August 12, 2011, he was sentenced to five-game suspension and a fine of ¥ 25,000 for an argument with opponent Zhao Junzhe of Liaoning Hongyun . Nonetheless, he scored 16 goals in 26 games in the 2011 season and became the season's top scorer. At the same time, Guangzhou won the Chinese championship for the first time in the club's history; Muriqui received the Chinese Super League Footballer of the Year award in December 2011 .

At the beginning of the 2012 season, he and his club also won the Chinese Super Cup with a 2-1 win over Chinese cup winner Tianjin Teda . On March 7, he scored his first international goal in a 5-1 victory in the group stage of the AFC Champions League against South Korean champions Jeonbuk Hyundai Motors . At the end of the 2012 season he was able to defend the Chinese championship title with Evergrande.
