from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Bederkesa Handicraft Museum in Bad Bederkesa is a municipal handicraft museum that shows the development of handicrafts in the Elbe-Weser region from the beginning until the 20th century . The museum is located in an old gas works in Bad Bederkesa. It goes on preparatory work and the initiative of the Master Builder of the local shoemaker - Guild , Peter Hennig († 2013) and his wife Martha Hennig back.

history

A forerunner of today's handicraft museum was the Schuhmachermuseum, a private museum that was set up in a room in the administrative building (opposite the castle) in Bederkesa on the initiative of Peter Hennig in 1986 . Hennig developed further ideas for a larger handicraft museum and won the support of the then joint municipality director of Bad Bederkesa, Wilfried habenicht for this idea. Finally, after many years of deliberation and planning, a location for the museum was found: a former gas works was made available by the municipality of Bad Bederkesa. The building was converted into a museum with the help of donations and the contributions of the craft guilds totaling 170,000 euros. In 1996 the museum was founded in the form of an association by 14 guilds of the Bremerhaven-Wesermünde District Craftsmen's Association and the Bad Bederkesa community. In addition, there has been a support association for this since September 1997.

The trades shown in the collection are:

Several of these job titles have become obsolete due to the reorganization of the skilled trades. In some cases, the corresponding guilds are no longer active in the region. There is also an extensive collection of irons as a special exhibition.
