Musica rara quintet

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Musica rara quintet is an Erfurt wind quintet .

In 1981 committed wind instruments from the Erfurt Philharmonic Orchestra joined forces to form a quintet . After the founding of the musica rara eV (1990) it took on the name Musica rara - quintet and has since formed the core ensemble of this association.

repertoire

The musicians feel equally committed to cultivating classical and contemporary music. The broad repertoire ranges from compositions by Joseph Haydn , Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart , Ludwig van Beethovens , Franz Danzis and Antonín Reichas to important composers of the 20th century such as Paul Hindemith , Hanns Eisler , Darius Milhaud , Bohuslav Martinů , Werner Egk , György Ligeti and others

In the last few years the female music industry, which is still underrepresented in public music life, has formed a further focus of the repertoire. Thanks to the quintet in Erfurt, works by Gracyna Bacewicz , Elena Firsowa and Ilse Fromm-Michaels were heard for the first time.

The ensemble can refer to numerous world premieres, including pieces by Alice Samter , Violeta Dinescu , Ruth Bodenstein-Hoyme , Reinhard Lippert and Tilo Medek .

Concerts and chamber music collaboration

Occasionally there is chamber music collaboration with guest soloists such as the harpsichordist Gabor Antalffy (Düsseldorf), the pianist Camelia Sima (Jena), the harpist Katharina Hanstedt (Berlin), the singer Christina Ascher (New York & Frankfurt / M.).

Several times, members of the ensemble have successfully performed together with the Vienna Glass Harmonica Duo at the Erfurt Musica rara Festival, which takes place every year with a different focus .

In 1998 the quintet was engaged for four concerts within the Thuringian-wide, innovative festival "Cluster".

For the 90th birthday of the Berlin composer Alice Samter , the quintet recorded a CD and was invited to a portrait concert in the chamber music hall of the Berlin concert hall on Gendarmenmarkt.

On the occasion of the cultural capital year Weimar '99, the Chamber Music Association gave a much-noticed concert in the Princely House in the series " Degenerate Music " together with guests .

Another artistic highlight was an appearance by the quintet as part of the cultural program of the German Pavilion at the Expo 2000 (Hanover) with works by the German-Australian composer George Dreyfus .
