Musikot ( Nepali मुसीकोट ) is a city ( municipality ) in western Nepal in the district of Rukum West in the province of Karnali . Musikot khalanga is the seat of the district administration of the existing since 2015 district Rukum West and was up to its distribution and district capital of the district of Rukum .

history

The city of Musikot was created at the end of 2014 through the merger of the two Village Development Committees Khalanga (with the main town Musikot ) and Sankha to the east .

The city lies above the Sani Bheri river valley at an altitude of 1500  m . The place has an airfield, the Musikot Airport . When it was founded, the urban area covered 63.25 km².

In the course of the restructuring of the local level and the creation of the Gaunpalikas (rural communities) by amalgamating and abolishing the Village Development Committees on March 10, 2017, the VDC Chokhawang, Bhalakcha and Chhiwang Peudha and parts of the VDC Syalpakha were incorporated . This increased the area of ​​the city to 136.06 km².
