history

Mutzberg was first mentioned in 1500 as Muyßberg in a contract about the estate on the Heidacker and in the late Middle Ages it belonged to the Duchy of Berg . In the early modern period, the membership as Manßberg to the Hardenberger farmers' association Oberste Siebeneick is notarized.

In the 19th century Mutzberg belonged to the farmers Obensiebeneick and the parish Dönberg in the mayor's office Hardenberg , which was renamed Neviges in 1935 . From 1816 to 1861 it belonged to the Elberfeld district and from 1861 to the old Mettmann district .

With the municipal reform of 1929, the southeastern part of Obensiebeneick was split off and incorporated into the newly founded city of Wuppertal together with southern Dönberger localities, the rest of Obensiebeneick around Mutzberg initially remained with Neviges. As a result of the regional reform in North Rhine-Westphalia , Neviges came to the city of Velbert at the beginning of 1975, and Obensiebeneick was also incorporated into Wuppertal.
