My Iron Lung is an EP from British alternative rock band Radiohead . The EP was released a year after their debut album Pablo Honey and a year before its successor The Bends . It was the band's first collaboration with Nigel Godrich , who was subsequently the producer for almost all of the band's other releases. The EP was later included as a bonus disc in The Bends Special Edition.

My Iron Lung comes in several forms . In Great Britain it was initially released as a "double single" with four songs each, with My Iron Lung being included on both discs. Reviews

Commercially, My Iron Lung couldn't match the success of Creep . In retrospect, the EP is still thoroughly praised by critics. Greg Prato wrote in his review for Allmusic :

“What makes My Iron Lung such a find is the quality of the tracks, all of them being great outtakes from the sessions for (...) The Bends. And because of the tracks' consistency and sequencing, it plays like a real album rather than a collection of B-sides and outtakes thrown together haphazardly. "

“What makes My Iron Lung such a discovery is the quality of the tracks, all of which are great outtakes from the sessions on (...) The Bends. And due to the consistency and arrangement of the tracks, it sounds more like a real album than a collection of randomly thrown together B-sides and outtakes. "

- Greg Prato

In fact, apart from My Iron Lung itself, which later appeared on The Bends , the songs included are not available on other releases by the band, which clearly sets them apart from other EPs from Radiohead (e.g. the Drill EP from 1993). The acoustic version of Creep , however, Prato calls "only weak spot" and gives an overall grade of four out of five points.
