The publishing house Nürnberger Presse Druckhaus Nürnberg GmbH & Co. is the regional media company for the greater Nuremberg area .

history

In 1945 Joseph E. Drexel , the editor of the Nürnberger Nachrichten, founded the publishing house in Zirndorf , as the former printing stronghold of Nuremberg was no longer intact due to the war. The first edition of Nürnberger Nachrichten appeared on October 11, 1945. In autumn 1949 the publishing house moved to Marienstraße in Nuremberg. In 1961, the Nürnberger Presse Druckhaus Nürnberg GmbH & Co. KG took a share in the Nürnberger Zeitung publishing house , the North Bavarian publishing company. In the 1970s and 1980s, the publishing house then took over the Nordbayerische Verlagsgesellschaft completely. The distribution area now extends over all of Middle Franconia and parts of Upper Franconia and the Upper Palatinate. Bruno Schnell headed the publishing house for several decades, and in autumn 2017 his two daughters Bärbel Schnell and Sabine Schnell-Pleyer took over the management of the publishing house.

Group of companies and holdings

The two daily newspapers Nürnberger Nachrichten (NN) and the Nürnberger Zeitung (NZ) appear in the group of companies. In this so-called “Nuremberg model”, the various local editorial offices of the home publishers create the respective home section and obtain the general part ( coat ) completely from the NN or the NZ. The local editions have different titles according to their area of distribution: Hersbrucker Zeitung (Hersbruck), Pegnitz-Zeitung (Lauf), Der Bote (Feucht), Windsheimer Zeitung (Bad Windsheim), Weißenburger Tagblatt (Weißenburg), Fränkischer Anzeiger (Rothenburg ob der Tauber) and Franconian regional newspaper (Ansbach, Dinkelsbühl, Neustadt an der Aisch).
