The NASCAR - Winston Cup 1974 started on 20 January 1974 at the Riverside International Raceway and ended on 24 November 1974 at the Ontario Motor Speedway . Richard Petty won the championship and was named Most Popular Driver . Earl Ross was named Rookie of the Year .
