NGC 1854 is a young globular cluster in the northwestern part of the bar of the Large Magellanic Cloud in the constellation Dorado .
The object was first described by James Dunlop , who observed it in 1826. When John Herschel traced the Dunlop records, he assigned two entries for the object (h 2782 and h 2783), which is why a second NGC entry refers to this object today with NGC 1855 .
