NGC 1835 is the name for an open star cluster associated with the Large Magellanic Cloud in the Swordfish constellation . NGC 1835 is 1.2 ′ in diameter and has an apparent magnitude of 10.6 mag. It is one of the richest star clusters in the Large Magellanic Cloud and contains 84 RR Lyrae stars . The object was discovered by James Dunlop on September 24, 1826 with a 9-inch collector and was later listed in the New General Catalog by Dreyer .
