NGC 1818 is the name for a globular cluster that is associated with the Large Magellanic Cloud in the constellation Swordfish . NGC 1818 is 3.4 'in diameter and has an apparent magnitude of 9.7 mag. This globular cluster is probably only 40 million years old, in contrast to most globular clusters in the Milky Way, which are often over 10 billion years old. It is therefore one of the blue globular clusters .
NGC 1818 was discovered by the Scottish astronomer James Dunlop on August 3, 1826 .
