NGC 1817 is a galactic open star cluster in the constellation Taurus on the ecliptic . NGC 1817 has an angular diameter of 20 arc minutes and a magnitude of 7.7 mag. The object was discovered on February 19, 1784 by Wilhelm Herschel .
