NGC 1799 is a lenticular galaxy of the Hubble type S0 in the constellation Eridanus in the southern sky . It is estimated to be 194 million light years from the Milky Way and about 65,000 light years in diameter. Presumably it forms a gravitationally bound galaxy pair with NGC 1797 .
The object was discovered by Lewis Swift on February 13, 1887 .
