NGC 1781 = NGC 1794 is a lenticular galaxy of the Hubble type SB0 in the constellation Lepus in the southern sky . It is estimated to be 217 million light years from the Milky Way .

The object was discovered by Wilhelm Herschel on February 6, 1785 .
