NGC 2011 is a young open star cluster of the Large Magellanic Cloud and is located in the constellation Swordfish . It is one of the brightest and the largest number of members double star clusters in the Large Magellanic Cloud. It belongs to the star complex SC2 , an active star formation area on the southern edge of the huge ring-shaped structure LMC 4 of the Large Magellanic Cloud, which also includes various star associations and other young star clusters. The object was discovered by John Herschel on January 31, 1835 .
