NGC 2007 is a bar-spiral galaxy with extensive star formation regions of the Hubble type SBc in the constellation Maler in the southern sky . It is estimated to be 193 million light years from the Milky Way and about 100,000 light years in diameter. Together with NGC 2008 , it forms an optical pair of galaxies.
The object was discovered on December 27, 1834 by the British astronomer John Herschel .
