NGTD8DD represents N iederflur g élénk t railcars D rehgestell 8 axes type Dresden . It belongs to the second generation of low-floor railways in Dresden. The railcars have been given the numbers 2601 to 2640 and were manufactured from 2006 to 2009 by Bombardier Transportation at the Bautzen plant. Like the articulated railcar NGT D12DD , the railways belong to the Flexity Classic product series .
The Dresdner Verkehrsbetriebe originally ordered 20 railcars of this type (numbers 2601-2620), later the order was increased by a further 20 trains (numbers 2621-2640), with the re-ordered trains having changed seating in the area of the bogies. From April 2006 the first NGT D8DD wagon was subjected to intensive test drives from the Trachenberge depot and has been on the road in normal regular service since September 1, 2006. In June 2009 the last of the 40 vehicles were put into regular service.
Structure and equipment
The cars are 29.30 meters long, making them the shortest low-floor trams in Dresden. They consist of three vehicle modules that are similar to those of the NGT D12DD type. The first and the last module each rest on two bogies and are each equipped with an electromechanically operated double outer pivoting sliding door. They are connected to an intermediate module (sedan chair), which has two doors.
The vehicles are powered by a total of three motor bogies, each with an output of 2 × 85 kW. Two are in the first module and one at the end of the last module. The railcar has the smallest and therefore the best power-to-weight ratio of all railways in Dresden.
All vehicles of this type have wheelchair ramps , monitors for passenger information and video surveillance cameras in the passenger area.
With its 69 (first delivery series) or 73 (second delivery series) seats and 103 standing places, a total of 172 and 176 passengers can be transported. This vehicle has the lowest transport capacity of all Dresden low-floor railways.
commitment
The railcar is used on lines with low passenger volumes, mainly on Dresden tram lines 8, 9, 10, 12 and 13. At the weekend, also on line 6.
