The Nackestift ( rarely also: Dietrich-Nacke-Stift) in Flensburg - Neustadt , is a monastery building built in the 19th century . It is one of the city's cultural monuments .

background

In the course of time, a number of monastery buildings emerged in Flensburg , such as the Munketoftstift in downtown Flensburg or the Rönnenkamp Stift in Fruerlund . But of the city's pens, the neck pen is probably the oldest. Dietrich Nacke, who was Flensburg's mayor for St. Marien from 1587 to 1595 , died on June 23, 1595. In his will, he ordered the establishment of a poor house at Nordertor , which was built as an extension shortly after the gate was completed. this first Nackestift existed as a one-story building with a gable roof , which was directly connected to the north gate to the east. The Nackestift was from the beginning a church pen, because the administration was carried out by the church. Around 1890, the Nackestift at Nordertor was torn down to improve traffic management there.

In 1890, the Nackestift, 370 meters away, was rebuilt on Junkerholweg . It is believed that the construction plans for the new monastery building came from the architect Otto Fielitz . In the interior of the two-storey brick building, with a simple design and a flat, sloping gable roof , 14 poor houses were then set up. The Nackestift was given the address Stiftstrasse 1. Shortly after its construction, the new Anna-Thomsen-Stift was built in 1891/92 in the direct eastern neighborhood . Subsequently, the neighboring Junkerhohlweg barracks to the north were built in 1893–1897 . In the 20th century, some of the Flensburg originals are said to have lived in Nackestift, for example a street musician named "Sylvester". Until around the turn of the millennium, the monastery building was probably used as a kind of poor house like the neighboring Anna Thomsen monastery . In 1994 the neck pen was completely renovated. In 2014 the St. Petri congregation sold the neckstick to Britta Kromand and her husband Harald Heidmann.
