Junji Nagai ( Japanese 永 井 順 二 , Nagai Junji ; born December 5, 1981 in Nayoro , Hokkaidō ) is a Japanese biathlete .

As usual in Japan, Junji Nagai belongs as a biathlete to the "winter combat training unit" (Tōsenkyō) of the ground self-defense forces . Junji Nagai lives in Nagano . The professional athlete has been practicing biathlon since 2001 and is trained by Akihiro Takizawa . The Japanese made his international debut in 2006 at a Biathlon European Cup race in Obertilliach . In the sprint there he finished 72nd. The World Cup debut followed in 2007 in Kontiolahti , where he was 105th in a sprint. At first he was mostly only used in the relay competitions. Since the Biathlon World Cup 2008/2009 , stakes in individual races became more frequent, in which he was able to improve steadily. Consequently, Nagai was the the highlight of the season, Biathlon World Championships 2009 of Pyeongchang compete. There he reached his 50th place in the sprint, his best World Cup result up to that point and also qualified for the pursuit race in which he was 52nd. In the individual, a 67th place was added, in the mixed relay he came with Fuyuko Suzuki , Megumi Izumi and Hidenori Isa in 20th and last place, which was not due to Nagai's performance, who remained flawless, but four penalty laps Izumi was at fault. At the sprint race in Oberhof in 2010 , he was the 36th to win World Cup points for the first time.

In addition to biathlon, Nagai also does cross-country skiing . Here he competed several times in Continental Cup races and achieved several top 20 placements.
