Namik Dokle

Namik Dokle (born March 11, 1946 in Durrës ) is an Albanian journalist , writer and politician of the Socialist Party (PS).

biography

After attending school, he first studied agricultural science at the Agricultural Institute of Tirana from 1965 to 1970 and graduated as an agricultural economist . He also studied journalism at the University of Tirana between 1968 and 1970 .

He then became a journalist for the daily Puna , of which he was editor-in-chief between 1983 and 1989. After working as secretary of the journalists' association from 1989 to 1990, he became editor-in-chief of the daily newspaper Zëri i Popullit in 1991 .

Dokle, in 1991 a member of the Socialist Party was the first time the members of the 1992 Albanian Parliament elected and was this ever since as a representative for the Elbasan District to. During this time he was also the representative of Albania in the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe from 1992 to 2000 .

At the same time, he was not only a member of the executive committee of the PS since 1991, but also chairman of the Socialists' faction in parliament from 1992 to 1997 and also deputy party chairman between 1992 and 1996. From 1996 to 1997 he was organizational secretary of the PS, before he served as party secretary for ideology from 1999 to 2000 .

After the parliamentary elections in 2001 he was elected on September 4, 2001, successor to Skënder Gjinushi as parliamentary president. As early as April 30, 2002, he was followed by his party colleague Servet Pëllumbi as President of Parliament.

In December 2003, Prime Minister Fatos Nano appointed him Vice Prime Minister in his cabinet, of which he was a member until the PS election in July 2005.
