content

The Kurdish teacher Bakhtiyar has been transferred to a town in the Kurdish-speaking part of Iran and is trying to find a home there with his wife and two small children. However, the more often he refuses to display the desired opportunism , the greater the difficulties that stand in his way. One day a car with two men is parked in his street. It stands there for hours every day. This unusual occurrence caused a stir in the neighborhood and led them to believe that the national security service was conducting surveillance. Everyone feels that there is a reason to watch them, and they become fearful. However, they ultimately come to the conclusion that the surveillance measure applies to Bakhtiyar, whose father is a controversial politician. A witch hunt develops more and more. The neighborhood urges the teacher to make a decision: Should he fight back and prove his innocence or accept his victim role and leave town and move again? And in addition to all of this, he has to find a way to grant his father's last wish, who is about to die.

The film, initially told realistically and closely observed, becomes more and more a parable-like tale about paranoia , rumors and the powerlessness of the individual in a repressive system with its own dynamic.
