Nampa is a city in Canyon County in the US state of Idaho . With over 93,000 residents (as of July 1, 2017, US Census Bureau ), it is the third largest city in the state after Boise and Meridian . Nampa is 41 kilometers west of Boise on the Snake River Plain on Interstate 84 , which here coincides with US 30 .

history

Nampa started as a small railroad town in the early 1880s, it was founded in 1886 . It quickly developed into an important railway city . The 15 houses quickly became 50. In the 1890s, the first elementary school was opened under the name Lakeview School . It was on a hill between 6th Street and 12th Avenue North. The school had a good view of Lake Ethel , which was later drained due to flooding. Lakeview Park was established in the area of ​​the lake . Today it is the largest park in the city.
