Narkis Konstantinowitsch Tschupin ( Russian: Наркиз Константинович Чупин ; * 4th February July / 16 February  1824 greg. In Yekaterinburg ; † 12 April July / 24 April  1882 greg. Ibid) was a Russian historian , geologist and university professor .

Life

Tschupin's father was an auditor at the mining military court of the Urals mining district. Tschupin attended the Jerkaterinburger Ujesdschule and worked as a clerk from 1835 . 1838–1842 he attended high school in Perm , where Pavel Ivanovich Melnikov was one of his teachers. In 1842 he began studying at the Faculty of History and Philology at the University of Kazan . From 1845 he was also a guest student at the natural science faculty of the University of Kazan. In 1850, after defending his dissertation on the history and statistics of the metallurgy industry in Russia, he became the candidate of cameralistic sciences .

In 1852 he joined the office of the head manager of the Urals mining operations, Vladimir Andreevich Glinka . When the mining school opened in Yekaterinburg in 1853, he worked there as a teacher, inspector and 1862–1882 as director. In addition, he taught Russian and Latin at the Ekaterinburg boys' high school from 1861 to 1882 .

In 1872 Tschupin joined the Ural Society of Natural History Friends (UOLJ) founded by Onésime Claire , of which he became an honorary member in 1882. He was a member of the Society of Natural History Friends at Kazan University in the Department of Anthropology and Ethnography . He researched the geography and statistics of the Perm Governorate . He examined life in the Siberian settlements whose residents an appeal letter on the Bashkirs to the Tsar Ivan V and Peter I had written.
