Nathan Perkovich (born October 15, 1985 in Canton , Michigan ) is an American ice hockey player with Croatian citizenship who has been under contract with the Florida Everblades from the ECHL since October 2018 . He has been eligible to play for the Croatian national ice hockey team since 2015 .
Career
Nathan Perkovich, who was born in the United States to parents of Croatian descent, began his career as a hockey player with the Cedar Rapids RoughRiders in the United States Hockey League , the country's most important youth league . Although he was drawn in the NHL Entry Draft 2004 by the New Jersey Devils in the 8th round in a total of 250th place, he continued to play in the USHL and spent the following two years at Chicago Steel. From 2006 to 2009 he was on the ice for the Lake Superior State University team in Division I of the National Collegiate Athletic Association .
From 2009 to 2012 Perkovich was for the farm team of his draft club New Jersey Devils, the Lowell Devils , who call themselves Albany Devils since moving to Albany in 2010 , in the AHL . In 2012 he moved to the country of his forefathers to KHL Medveščak Zagreb in the Austrian ice hockey league , since the 2013/14 season he has been playing with the team from the Croatian capital in the continental hockey league . In addition, he was used by Medveščak in the playoffs of the Croatian league and so in 2013 and 2014 Croatian champions ,
International
Perkovich played for the first time at the 2015 World Cup in Division I for the Croatian national ice hockey team . He scored one goal in four of the five games. Only in the 4-9 defeat against South Korea did he fail to score his own. Also in 2016 and 2017 he played with Croatia in Division I.
