The National Basketball League ( NBL ) is a professional Australasian basketball league with currently eight teams from Australia (seven teams) and New Zealand (one team). It is by far the strongest basketball league in Oceania and is among the top 20 in the world by international standards. The league was founded in Australia in 1979.
