The Braulio Carrillo National Park, known for its jungle cable car, is located north of San José in Costa Rica . It was designated as a national park in 1978 .

The flora and fauna represented in this national park include giant ferns , bromeliads , orchids, as well as hummingbirds , poison dart frogs , butterflies , coatis and a wide variety of reptiles . This is indicated by the marked paths and paths leading through the national park, so-called "senderos". They are named after different types of snakes, such as the "sendero bocaracá" ( Viper ) or the "sendero Matabuey" (ox-killer, such as the Bushmaster in Costa Rica is called).

A special feature is the jungle cable car "Teleferico", from which you can observe the different vegetation zones and altitudes of a tropical rainforest, but which is not suitable for extensive animal observation, as many animals stay away due to the noise of the cable car.

The Braulio Carrillo National Park is frequently visited by tourists on the way to the to the Caribbean coast lying Tortuguero National Park and Cahuita are.
