Sodium fluorophosphate is an inorganic chemical compound from the group of phosphates .

Extraction and presentation

Sodium fluorophosphate can be obtained by reacting sodium metaphosphate with sodium fluoride at 650 ° C.

properties

Sodium fluorophosphate is a white, odorless solid that is readily soluble in water. Its toxicity is only about 1/3 that of sodium fluoride .

use

Sodium fluorophosphate is used as an active ingredient for fluoridation in toothpastes , tooth varnishes , touch solutions and drinking water . It is also used as a flux for metal melts, ceramic products and for combating mycoses . It is also used in preparations for the treatment of osteoporosis . The caries-reducing effect was discovered in 1950.
