The Zirbitzkogel-Grebenzen Nature Park was founded as a nature park in 1983 and is located in the Murau district in Styria in Austria .

geography

The nature park is a nature reserve and recreation area in the Neumarkt pass landscape in the Styrian-Carinthian border region between the Zirbitzkogel ( 2396  m ) and the Grebenzen ( 1892  m ). Until the end of 2014, members of the nature park were the ten nature park communities of Dürnstein in Styria , Kulm , Mariahof , Mühlen , Neumarkt in Styria , Perchau am Sattel , St. Blasen , St. Lambrecht , St. Marein , Zeutschach . Since 2015, due to the amalgamation of municipalities with the same area of ​​the nature park, there are only the three municipalities of Neumarkt in Styria , Mühlen and Sankt Lambrecht . The total area of ​​the nature park is 285 km².

Landscape and protected area

In addition to the Natura 2000 and Ramsar protection area  Hörfeld Moor, the  Natura 2000 areas  Furtner Teich – Dürnberger Moor, Furtner Teich, Dürnberger Moor and Zirbitzkogel are located in the nature park.

Flora Fauna

Numerous rare plants and animals can be found in the nature park: fire lily , Carniolan rabid , orchids , golden eagle , capercaillie , fever clover , downy birch , Alpine crested newt , yellow-bellied toad , round-leaved sundew .
